Accuracy & Precision in Medicine
Learning Objectives
I learned about the Scientific Notation and the Metric System.
The scientific notation is useful to represent quantities.
For example if a doctor have to prescribe a certain quantity of medicine.
The metric system is useful to avoid mistakes with quantities between doctors,
researchers and hospitals, no matter where they are in the world.

Career Spotlight
In medicine, researchers focus on improve our weapons against certain diseases or virus. They generally work for hospitals or pharmaceutical companies, and every day they try to find new compounds, or improve existing ones, to cure diseases.
In research it is important to have a common system to express quantities and measurements to collaborate and share their findings with other researchers across the world, minimizing the possibility of errors. Medical researchers generally have a PhD in a related field (e.g., biology, nursing, chemistry) or a Medical Degree and a fellowship in that particular topic. |
